Sometimes, the best trips aren’t the longest they’re the ones that slow you down just enough to breathe, reconnect, and remember how beautiful the world (and your person) can be.
My partner and I spent two unforgettable days in Graskop, Mpumalanga, and it gave us exactly that. Quiet moments, sky-high views, and the kind of stillness you can only find in nature.
Here’s a little glimpse into our escape. ❤️
Day 1: Road Tripping Into the Mist & Finding God’s Window
We hit the road early, playlists ready and windows down, heading toward the lush green heart of Mpumalanga. The drive itself was beautiful winding roads, mountain views, and that slow shift into something calmer as the city slipped away.
By early afternoon, we arrived at our stay: a charming villa (Quaint Luxury Villas near God’s window) tucked away in the hills near God’s Window. The place felt like a hidden gem, quiet, surrounded by trees, and just far enough from everything to feel completely off the grid.

After settling in and catching our breath, we decided to visit God’s Window in the late afternoon and what a decision that was.

As we arrived, soft light poured through the forest canopy and the viewpoint opened up to one of the most stunning scenes I’ve ever witnessed
Day 2: Waterfall Wonders & Forest Trails Before Goodbye
The next morning was crisp and fresh. Birds chirping, cool mountain air, and that lovely “no rush” feeling. We packed up slowly and decided to squeeze in a few last experiences before heading home.
First stop: Lisbon Falls and wow. The sheer height of the falls and the thunder of the water as it crashed down into the gorge below was absolutely mesmerizing. We stood for a while just watching the mist swirl, letting the sound and scale of it all sink in.

Next, we made our way to the Graskop Gorge Lift. Descending into the forest floor in a glass lift was surprisingly serene like being gently lowered into another world. Below, a winding boardwalk took us through lush trees, waterfalls, and swinging bridges. It felt like a secret garden you’d only find once in a lifetime.

What This Trip Gave Us
Graskop gave us more than views
it gave us space.
Space to disconnect.
Space to feel small under big skies.
Space to just be, together.
From the golden light at God’s Window to the roaring falls and quiet forest trails, every moment felt like a soft reminder to slow down and soak it all in.
Two days. That’s all it took. 🫧💌
